Cotton in Pennsylvania German Life
Log Cabin Quilt
ca. 1930 - 1940
Cotton
Made by Jeremiah Kriebel
Gift Of David G. Kriebel
2004

Schwenkfelder descendant Jeremiah Kriebel was disabled and created quilts and other needlework as a pastime. His delightful Log Cabin quilt incorporates older cotton prints dating to the turn of the 20th century and possibly older, and the newer cheerful 1930s fabrics. Some of the cottons appear to be printed feedsack, very popular in quilts in southeastern Pennsylvania during the period. The reverse is a bright floral patterned fabric.
