ca. 1850 Cotton Worn by Susanna Bechtel Johnson (1782-1869) New Berlinville, Berks County Gift of Amanda (Johnson) Schweitzer 1923.13.06 Susanna Johnson’s dress features cartridge pleating at the waist and self-piping at the neckline, sleeves and waist, all typical of a mid-19th century date. The cotton print is deep olive with a windowpane check; the in-seam pocket and hem lining is a tiny brown polka dot. The hem is reinforced with woven tape. |
