Come and Visit us during this exciting weekend!

Passport to Historylvhistory.org

Saturday, August 7th 10 am - 4 pm
Sunday August 8th 1 - 4 pm

During this free open house, visitors get a chance to explore the Upper Perkiomen and learn about its settlers, many of whom were Pennsylvania German farmers. Exhibits in the museum share the tools and customs of an agricultural lifestyle that continued here into the early 1900s. Explore a reconstructed 1826 barn, learn about Conestoga Wagons, and guess various mystery items that we do not use today. A special family activity, The Great PA Dutch (Trivia) Race, gives you a chance to show what you know about Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, language, and crafts—or provides a fun way to learn. Road maps allow you to travel in the safety of your own vehicle to nearby related historic sites in lower Lehigh County and western Montgomery County. All who visit will leave with a goodie bag.

The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, with its internationally recognized collections and research facilities, engages visitors in exploration of the themes of religious freedom, tolerance, migration, and heritage in their own lives and the lives of their families through the stories of the Schwenkfelders and the Pennsylvania Germans of the Perkiomen region - people whose bonds of faith, family, and community tell a fundamental American story.
